Dongkula, or coconut-shell sandals, are easy to make. All you need is a rope and two coconut half-shells. First make a hole in the top of each shell. Then connect the shells by passing an end of the rope through each hole and knotting it on the underside.
To wear the sandals, slip the rope between your big and second toes on each foot. Keep the rope taut as you walk around so that the sandals don't slip off. When someone is wearing coconut-shell sandals, you can hear them clopping around.
