Kompania Dance

The kompania dance is performed by men dressed in colorful uniforms. Both the name of the dance as well as the costumes may originate from the era when ships of the Dutch East India Company (Dutch Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie) plied their way past Buton Island on their way to and from the Spice Islands.

Today this dance is performed on the Muslim holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha. It is also performed for important visitors who come to North Buton Regency.
